Tudor Cross Necklace

This is my Tudor Cross, inspired by this necklace shown here: [link] I had a ton of fun making this as it posed a challenge on how it was going to lay right. The chain itself is very stiff and so I had to come up with a way to get it to curve without buckling or twisting. I think I did a good job of that! LOL. I fell in love with the Tudors a long time ago...way before the show came out on HBO...and decided that I wanted to make a jewelry piece based on the style back then. This cross is more characteristic of the Catholic Queen Katherine of Argon, a Spanish Princess by birth and wife to England's King Henry VIII, who compared to the ladies in her court, was very conservative and moderate. She is portrayed by many historians as this dreary puritan who downed color as well as pageantry. I have done my own research and while I don't call myself a historian but rather a very one sided opinionist, I believe Queen Katherine was simply a very elegant queen who wanted her people to see her not for what she wore, but for what she believed in and how she helped her husband rule. I mean, Queen Anne Boleyn, the King's second wife, was very colorful and forward in her dress and thinking; and look where that got her...the chopping block! Anyway...sorry for the rambling...I guess I feel very strongly on this. Enjoy my newest and my personal favorite, creation.
